Turning a hospital waiting room into a world of escape.
Overview
We transformed the Adolescent and Young Adult Lounge at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital into a portal for escape. Recognizing that treatment can be isolating and scary, we designed an immersive, multi-user media wall that transports young patients out of the hospital and into fantastical landscapes. It offers a critical dose of distraction, interaction, and creative freedom when it’s needed most.

The Details
The experience is designed to leave a lasting positive mark on the patient experience. Users collaborate to design creatures and solve challenges in worlds ranging from deep space to underwater reefs. Once created, these digital companions "swim" onto a massive video ribbon in the hospital's main reception area. This creates a welcoming "digital aquarium" where returning patients are greeted by their own creations, offering a sense of ownership and comfort in a clinical space.
